Tempered spring steel armour for buhurt and the joust — raised, hardened, and fitted by hand in our workshop.
Each built as a whole — helm to sabaton — and each filmed as it left the bench.
A complete Italian fighting harness of the mid-trecento: riveted brigandine over tempered plate, spoletto bascinet with riveted mail aventail, Tristan gauntlets, articulated arms, and a full leg harness. Every plate raised and hardened in this workshop, built whole to buhurt specification.
A fifteenth-century German man at arms harness built around a brigandine core: fully articulated arms and legs, mitten gauntlets, every lame moving freely under load. Shown here piece by piece, then in the hands that made it.
Commissioned for the tilt: a fifteenth-century Italian harness in mirror-polished stainless steel with brass fittings. Deep-formed breastplate, heavy pauldrons, full articulation throughout — jousting armour finished to display standard.
The blackened Burgundian — not to be confused with our other blackened Burgundian sets — offered as a model in three configurations. Worn, it carries gothic legs, gothic arms, and gothic gauntlets under a fourteenth-century helm after the Romance of Alexander. The fitting shows the cloth-covered rerebraces and cuisses — real plate beneath the yellow. And the covered cuirass stands on its own.
Helmets, cuirasses, arms, leg harness and full kits — every piece the forge makes, in one place.
Articulation, temper, and historical pattern — the three things you can't bolt on afterwards.
Shoulder lames riding freely through their full range — no binding, no gaps.
A transitional sallet after the effigy at St Peter’s, Sourton — XV century.
No padding underneath and no camera cuts — a tempered helm on a post, taking repeated full-force overhead strikes from a two-handed axe. The axe gives up first. That is what the temper is for, and it's the same steel in every buhurt piece that leaves this workshop.
